“Outstanding food, value for money and excellent service. The team at the Coffee Mill make a cracking good coffee - we enjoyed our flat white coffee so much we came back for breakfast on all three days we were in the city. The Full Scottish Breakfast and the Traditional Scotts Porridge were hearty, tasty and very high quality. This was our first taste of haggis and black pudding - both were excellent. The staff at the cafe were helpful, engaging and had a great sense of humour, including remembering our coffee order as soon as we walked in on day 2. Found near the base of the famous castle, the cafe provides a great start to your day and your meanderings around Edinburgh.”

“Had breakfast at The Coffee Mill with my family of four. Service was quick and staff were friendly. Food was nice and good portions. Prices were very reasonable as well. The fruit smoothies were a hit with the kids! We could not find any parking close by so chose to walk instead which was not an issue. As this place is quite small (as are many other cafes in the area) we were seated within very close proximity to other diners which can impact conversations at times….but not a big issue at all. Highly recommend this place for breakfast. Very close walking distance to Grassmarket, Edinburgh Castle and The Royal Mile.”

“We are on vacation in Scotland and the Coffee Mill in Edinburgh was an absolute delight. The breakfast was perfect—fresh, hearty, and beautifully presented. But what really made the experience stand out was the exceptional service. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere is another highlight. It’s warm, cozy, and full of character, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. A fantastic little spot in Edinburgh, and definitely somewhere we’d happily return to. Highly recommended!”

“The Coffee Mill is definitely a hidden gem, very close to central Edinburgh. The small coffee and breakfast place can barely be seen when you walk by. Yet they were one of the few places already open early to catch a good breakfast. And how surprisingly good it was indeed. The staff there are very friendly and very nice. Coffee tastes great. Well worth the visit. Thank you.”

“Best Scottish breakfast I’ve ever had. Very delicious, very adequate portion, and great quality food. The price was very reasonable too. I ordered a Mocha Late which I realllly enjoyed. Also their Tea was amazing as well. And about their staff, they were very friendly, polite and warm people. I absolutely loved this place!”
